Calista has been living in the home of the Barron Claude. She has been using her gifts to help guide his choices. When one of the Hyhborn Princes Thorne, from her past shows up, she is drawn to him but also wants to keep her independents and her secrets. But things are changing around them. There is unrest, and people are coming together to fight for change. Will Calista be able to keep her secrets from Thorne?
This is the first book in the Awakening series. Calista is strong willed and one who wants to help those not as fortunate as herself. Thorne is dark and brooding, he is used to get what he wants without having to ask for permission. These two together have a brilliant chemistry. The world is dark and gritty, that has gone through a great war. There are major class issues in this world as well. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to seeing where this series will go from here.
