Rosie is a witch who uses her magic to help people find their person using books that she sells in her bookstore. Only she has never found that for herself, because of a family curse. After another breakup, she finally decides to break the curse, and call on the one who was responsible for it. The ghost that is summoned is grandfather to her neighbor, Jack who owns a gaming store. Jack has felt that Rosie and her sister are trouble and even gone so far as to forbid them from his shop. But now Rosie is on a quest and needs something from Jack. They must work together for her to break the curse. Will the be able to become friends or will this turn into something more?
This is the first book in the Heartwood Hollow series. Rosie is all sunshine and rainbows, wanting to take care of everyone else even sometimes at her own detriment. Jack is a bit grumpy but also has high social anxiety. The two together are the perfect bookish girl meets gamer boy. The chemistry between these two is hot. This story starts fifty days before Halloween, in a small town where everyone knows everything about everyone. It is the perfect cute, cozy read for the spooky season or if you just want good fall vibes. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it. I loved reading this book and can’t wait to read the next book that will be about Rosie’s sister Violet.
