It is the time for the Decennial's test, and the top six students want their opportunity to be nominated. This year its going to be a competition. Two rivals, two friends, two would be lovers, are the characters that we follow out of the 12 chosen. But more is going on than they are being told. Also with a new student thrown in right before the competition. Only one can win. So who will prevail?

This is the first book in the Souls of Blackwood Academy. We are pulled into this story by six different perspectives. Wren and August have a beautiful rivalry. Oliver and Emilio are that unspoken thing, that is sweet and a bit frustrating. Irene and Masika are best friends that need to work on their communication skills. The Academy, a school made for reapers, is a great back drop for this world. I found this story to be a page turner wanting to see what would happen next. I look forward to reading the next book, Ruinous Ends.
