Series: The Clash of Prophecies Duet Book 1

Audra has been raised in a small village by her parents that just wanted to create a place for travelers to come to. She once had dreams of leaving and seeing the world, but her mother is now gone, and she feels she must help fulfill her parents’ dreams. Then one day the mists move, and when they recede, there are Fae attacking. Soon she is taken and informed that she has Fae blood and must go and see if she is an Heir or someone worthy to join them. But the more that she learns about this new home, she feels something doesn’t add up. It doesn’t help that she begins to see a demon, Zhaire who seems to be stalking her. Who will she believe, the Fae who have taken her from her home or the demon who is helping her?

This is the first book in the Clash of Prophecies Duet. Audra has excelled at what she endeavors, such as being the perfect daughter and innkeeper. She pushes to do the same in her new world if it means survival. Zhaire never asked for any of this and just wants to kill the heir to stop the Fae. These two do not know what to make of the other, while one wants to win the other over, and the other doesn’t know who to trust. But their slow burn is swoon worthy. While the world is dark and cold, since it is stuck in winter, there is magic, but it is dying. The story is well paced and keeps you reading. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the duet.

Product description and Images are from amazon.com:

“She's a woman bound by fate, torn between two prophecies.

He's the Prince of the underworld, fated to either claim her or end her life.

Defying destiny is one thing…the heart, another.

Magic has always been at the periphery of Audra’s life. As a human, she knows that magic exists, but it's as distant as the legends she grew up with. Until one day, magic returns, bringing with it the all too real Fae and upending Audra’s life entirely.

Abducted by a cult of fae Priestesses, Audra finds herself conscripted into a magical war academy. The only hope of surviving this new world filled with guilds, magic, and danger is to band together with a group of her fellow prisoners. Though unlike the others, Audra's burgeoning magic is erratic and violent—just as the prophecy foretold. She must discover what it means to be the Heir, but time is running out. The Priestesses know the Heir moves among them, and they're determined to root them out, no matter what it takes.

As she struggles to mask her power, Audra’s plagued by visions of a dark, seductive being with a conflicting truth. He doesn’t want to save the world; he plans to reclaim it.

Now, Audra must choose: become the savior the cult demands or the catalyst the vision promises.”
