The Wolves of Ruin Book 1

Meryn is a fighter known as the Allycat. She takes care of her sister, Saela and her mother, who has suffered from a mental illness. But when her sister is taken by Nabbers she goes and enlists to get to the front lines. Only it happens to be the year were Bonding Trials take place. She just has to pass so she can get to the front line, not to bond with a direwolf. Only in the end she finds herself bonded. She only wants to get her sister home. Now she is stuck training with entitled Bonded who see her as less then.

This is the first book in the Wolves of Ruin series. Meryn may have been a street fighter, but she must learn how to fight as a team. She is smart and a spit fire. Lee through me for a loop. Stark is broody, and I would love to hit him at times. The connection to Strategos pack, especially to Izabel and her sister Venna from Kryptos, is brilliantly done. The world is complex and full of magic. This is a splendid book for people who love Fourth Wing, with its war college feel. There is so much I love about this book and can't wait to read the next book, Fury Bound.
