Lorelana has had her life is turned upside down. She makes a pact for her life and release, in exchange, she must kill her father, the king. But nothing goes right, and she's nearly killed herself and thrown over a wall. Now she's slowly being killed by the pact from the inside, since she hasn’t fulfilled her side. Her only move forward is to bond with a dragon. But she is going to need the help of Aelen, who doesn't want to. Will she be able to fulfill the pact, or will she die trying?

This is a standalone Romantasy. Lorelana is a bit sheltered, being a princess. But she also isn't a pushover and is a quick learner. Aelen is a great shadow daddy. He can be infuriating but his care for Lorelana is sweet. The world is filled with magic and dramatic landscapes. The forest is its own character with its own intentions. I enjoyed reading this book and will be on the lookout for more books by Morgona Aliss.
